Challenge

Of all regions, sub-Saharan Africa sadly has the highest rates of education exclusion. Over one-fifth of children between the ages of about 6 and 11 are out of school, followed by one-third of youth between the ages of about 12 and 14. According to UIS data, almost 60% of youth between the ages of 15 and 17 are not in school. -UNESCO, 2021 There is an urgent need to address this by providing empowering and quality education in concert with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Solution

This project equips classrooms and provides tuition support, school supplies, books, transportation, computer training, school meals, etc. This helps to reduce illiteracy and school dropout rates. Education is a proven way to alleviate poverty and bring lasting change. Providing quality education reflects that every child is entitled to fundamental human rights - such as quality education. Beneficiaries are educated, empowering them to be future leaders in Sierra Leone.

Long-Term Impact

The project is a compelling long-term investment as it provides quality educational opportunities for children and youths. Access to education and learning opportunities equips and enables. It enables access. This is helping them to rise above poverty and become independent and better decision-makers. They are then better capable of significantly contributing to their families, communities, nation, and the world. Education reduces poverty. It brings lasting empowerment and definite change.
