Our Futsal Academy in Stellenbosch, South Africa is a safe space for equipping & empowering at-risk boys to become transformational young leaders. Throughout the year 30 boys receive education outside the classroom, futsal coaching, & academic support. Our curriculum is accredited by Coaches Across Continents. We bring the curriculum to life through purposeful play activities. Our relationship-based approach has demonstrated clear impact over the last 8 years.
The destructive ramifications of Apartheid have crippled South Africa to the point that it's become the world's most unequal country. In the shadows of Stellenbosch's wealth & privilege, vulnerable children are growing up in communities marked by rampant family breakdown, endemic gangsterism, increasing violence, & high unemployment. Currently among our participants: 97% are currently at-risk, 86% are trapped in poverty, 85% attend low quality schools. Young people need positive role models.
We use futsal pitches to create safe spaces for education outside the classroom. We foster trauma-sensitive environments where young people can escape everyday abuse, exploitation, & violence. Our unique relationship-based approach actively empowers children to become transformational leaders who are committed to championing justice. Our proven model helps educate people about their rights, promotes diversity & inclusion, encourages self-directed learning, & develops leaders.
Our aim is to help raise up a generation of transformational leaders equipped to drive sustainable change in their communities and beyond. Our innovative curriculum focuses on equipping young people with tangible skills for work so that they will be able to access, retain, and excel in their desired field of employment so that they will be well positioned to break existing cycles of poverty and inequality.
