Dear Project of the Month Club Member,
In Sierra Leone, illiteracy and poverty have contributed to growing numbers of people being sent to prison, where they often face cramped and unsanitary conditions. In particular, women can be imprisoned for years with poor access to healthcare and limited contact with family. Our November Project of the Month, AdvocAid, provides vital education, counseling, and welfare support for these women and their families.
When Executive Director Zynab Binta Kamara learned that AdvocAid had been selected as the Project of the Month, they shared:
“Your donation will contribute greatly to addressing AdvocAid’s vision of a Sierra Leone where women and girls’ human rights are respected and protected...It will also enable us to continue driving a sustainable and impactful change in Sierra Leone. Women will be able to have alternatives especially regarding livelihoods; they will go through skills training and leave detention as part of a sustainable change.”

Thank you so much for your generosity.
With gratitude,

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
