On Thursday 24th February, Russia declared war on Ukraine. Thousands of people are now Internally Displaced Persons. Millions of people are fleeing contact zones. The war is crippling Ukraine's economy. UNICEF estimates that 7.5 million children are at risk. Families of children with disabilities - usually single mothers - suffer most. Accessing medical care will be near impossible. We help IDP and contact-zone families of children with disabilities access essential medical care.
The trauma of war will reshape Ukrainian society. The pension for children with disabilities is uncertain. Most of the children we support have cerebral palsy, and they require regular treatments to reduce pain. These families cannot flee. They cannot afford to. Their access to care will diminish as war grips the country. We aim to provide these families with the means to access essential medical care.
We support IDP families and those in contact zones to afford treatment for disabled children because no one should be left behind. We ensure that affected Ukrainian children with disabilities have access to remedial therapies. Physical therapy helps reduce pain and aims to improve neurological and sensory function. Child-dependent, regular treatment shows significant improvements in gross motor function, balance, coordination, and vocalizations. Such care is essential to children's well-being.
No child should live in pain and war should not prevent a child from accessing essential medical care. Bright Kids is helping the most vulnerable people in our society. By supporting those in need, we support democracy and social welfare. Our assistance creates space for society's most vulnerable kids to be remembered. We recognize the importance of all people, and we leave no one behind.
