The cost of living crisis has hit us hard. Post-pandemic, the political and economic situation has made day-to-day life extremely challenging in Sri Lanka. Eye-watering rates of inflation has meant price increases and supply issues with daily essentials. Frequent power cuts are common and there are also petrol and diesel shortages. Help us ensure we have all the resources to support 240 children and adults with disabilities in 2023.
Our costs are going up and we continue to struggle with the challenges of a deteriorating economic situation. We are doing what we can to sustain ourselves, for example, focussing even more on our agricultural production, but we can't do it alone. We need to pay our hard-working carers and farm workers a decent wage. We need to pay for medicines for those who need them and need access to safe transportation should a vulnerable person need medical attention or urgent hospital admission.
With your support, we can keep supporting and enabling the children and adults with disabilities who live with us. We'll be able to keep providing fresh, nutritious food and ensuring everyone has access to good medical care. We'll be able to continue to support everyone's development in a personalised way and ensure they have access to opportunities for development and a happy and meaningful life.
Prithipura Communities has provided a home and opportunities for people with disabilities for over 50 years. We've faced tough times before and we'll keep on adapting what we do to increase our sustainability and promote opportunity for everyone who lives with us. Our networks of friends and supporters have played an essential role in our journey so far. With your help, we can continue to not only survive but continue to thrive!
