Summary

Gender violence is a painful reality for women and girls in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The lack of basic services and limited access to rapid and vital assistance put them at constant risk. Grassroots organizations, generally based in remote locations, work as first responders in their communities, saving lives. They provide legal and psychosocial support, deliver training courses, disseminate information, sustain women's shelter and hotlines, and advocate for their rights.

Challenge

Did you know that building networks are crucial for women and girls at risk? Networking is key to reduce isolation, lack of information, and guarantee their rights. A network of women can start with something as simple as a chat. Contact between one woman and another, opens the door for a connection. That is how groups emerge which then become a space for dialogue and within these groups support and trusted information are provided. They listen to each other. They organize themselves.

Solution

In each community and in each neighborhood, the networks that are woven are a vital tool to provide support, prevent and eradicate the various types of violence that stop women and girls. Your donation will support our Program Networks and Alliances Free from Violence REDAL that strengthens the work of grassroots organizations that come into direct contact with gender-based violence survivors and advocate for their rights. Together we can eradicate all types of violence against women and girls!

Long-Term Impact

We are contributing to building societies where diverse women, identities and sexualities enjoy full exercise of their human rights, are empowered to defend and advocate for them, and have access to equal opportunities to develop their abilities and wellbeing, free from all forms of violence. In 2021, we supported 13 organizations from Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, which carried out 219 activities to support women facing gender-based violence, reaching a total of 44,440 beneficiaries.
